Golf Resources
Brunswick County is one of the state's most popular golf destinations, since it has more than three dozen championship courses. It is in Brunswick County where golfers can find one hole surrounded, from tee to green, by hundreds of thousands of oyster shells. One course is accessible only by ferry and wanders through the ancient maritime forest on Bald Head Island. Another has the sandy links and feel of the United Kingdom and is buffeted by bracing winds. Par threes traverse bogs into greens bordered by ancient craggy oaks. All of the big-name designers also are here, from Ross to Nicklaus (coming soon), Fazio to Maples. Fred Couples, Arnold Palmer, Tim Cate, Willard Byrd, Clyde Johnston, George Cobb, Pete and PB Dye are a few others who have left their mark on the county.

Comments: Three different nines: Magnolia -- basically open links-style course with mounds and large bunkers providing the challenge; Dogwood -- many large hardwoods with the Caw Caw Creek providing hazards; Azalea -- carved through pine forest, several large lakes and the Caw Caw Creek come into play.
